Standard Chartered announced today the participation of visually impaired Henry Wanyoike, world record holder of the 5,000 and 10,000 meters events at the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Paralympics, in the 10K road race.

Entries for the 2011 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon – scheduled to get underway at 7.00am on Friday (Jan 21) – have now closed with event organisers predicting a record turn out in all three racing categories.

Government departments will be working side-by-side to make sure the $1 million race goes without incident for the people of the city.
